Tir na nOg and Little Me
Two baby/toddler spaces, one on each level of the museum, are special areas for the museum's youngest visitors. Each of these areas provides an all round museum experience for young children who cannot yet walk, and offers parents with a baby and an older child a safe, nurturing place where they can be with their baby and at the same time, view their older child's activities.
Each area is distinctly unique but both offer a range of developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities for the youngest museum visitors.
Bright and inviting, these areas offer opportunities for gross and fine motor activities, language stimulation, sensory exploration and early problem solving, in particular cause-and-effect.
Pick apples from a tree and carry them about in a basket, or pop them into the shoot and watch them disappear.
Play peek-a-boo in the wee house or feed the 3 little pigs in the yard. Pet the animals in the barn and find out what sounds they make!
This area is limited to babies who are not yet walking. The soft flooring provides a safe environment for crawlers and wobblers. Watch the lights changing in the bubble column. From this space you can also stand beside our low level aquarium, offering our very small visitors a fascinating experience.
