Part Time Museum Facilitator

The purpose of Imaginosity, Ireland's ONLY Children's Museum is to promote learning for children of all abilities through interactive, informal hands on exhibits and programmes. The museum is a welcoming, fun environment, which helps spark learning through imagination, creativity and discovery. Imaginosity relates to its region, its community, its children and their developmental needs. It is a place where children, and adults, learn through play.

Job Description: All employees are responsible for upholding the Museum's mission and vision, to serve as an advocate for arts and education for all visitors and to serve the regions diverse communities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

1. To meet and exceed company service standards with regard to customer contact and interaction.

2. An ability to communicate with the public including general museum visitors, parents, care givers and community members in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Enthusiasm and understanding of working with families and children, while projecting a polite, confident and efficient image of the organisation.

4. An ability to work with/support the management of interactive exhibits and contribute to arts and cultural programming.

5. To coordinate visiting groups, lead birthday party groups and assist at events with enthusiasm.

6. An ability to work in a team setting where a high degree of daily communication is required. You must care about and value viewpoints of other team members with different areas of responsibility.

7. The responsibility for the daily upkeep and maintenance of exhibit areas.

8. To undergo training and coaching as required to achieve company performance standards and develop own skills.

Requirements and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

1. Have customer service and some administration experience.

2. Possess superb organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to multi task and meet deadlines.

3. Possess drive, energy and determination and be a highly motivated self-starter.

4. Demonstrate a warm, friendly and helpful manner in communications.

5. Take responsibility for own actions and work on own initiative, when required.

6. Strive to maintain good working relationships with other team members and other departments within the organisation.

7. Availability all weekends and mid week during academic holidays.

8. Professional appearance required and computer knowledge and interest a plus.

9. Ability to lift light objects and be on feet all day is essential.

10. Have an interest in one or more of the following; Early Years Learning, education, science, drama, art, children and families.

11. Inspire enthusiasm and excitement about the Museum and its mission, and should be curious and enjoy learning.

Role overview:  Imaginosity's Mad Hatter Café sells a range of food and drink through a simplified model without the need for extensive kitchen and food preparation facilities. Hot drinks are provided through a bean-to-cup machine and cold drinks provided via a refrigerated cabinet with canned/bottled cold drinks.

Reporting to the Staff Manager, members of the Cafe Staff are responsible for the 'front of counter' operation of the Mad Hatter Café area ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, safety and customer service.

Key responsibilities of the Cafe Staff include:

· Front of counter delivery of food and drink to customers including the operation of bean to cup coffee machines and food offerings.

· Operation of chip and pin machines and a cash till including the handling of cash payments.

· Keeping the counter and storage areas clear, well-organised and easy to use.

· Keeping the cafe clear and tidy with tables routinely cleared and cleaned in accordance with operational procedures.

· Raising any maintenance or significant cleaning issues to the Staff Manager.

· Ensuring that a personal full understanding is maintained about menus, offers and other operational information.

· Assisting in the delivery of party food or other events as directed by the Staff Manager.

· Promoting and practising relevant health and safety, food hygiene and fire safety standards.

· Maintaining effective stock control, storage and rotation to minimise wastage.

· Compliance with all organisational policies and procedures, including those for cash and stock handling.

· Controlling and managing of enquiries, complaints and emergencies including administering First Aid as required.

· To undertake any other duties as deemed necessary to assist in the day to day running of the cafe.

- Availabile to work both weekends and mid-week
